Carburetor Heat Box Induction Seal (Cessna 172L and M)

Dynamic Propeller has come up with its own Cessna Model 172L and 172M carburetor heat box induction seal.  The part is located on the front of the carburetor heat box and is typically cracked, missing parts or patched in some way to maintain airflow to the induction system.  This new part number DP0552130-11 bracket is made from a stronger composite material that will last longer and is less expensive than the original plastic part.

Carburetor Heat Box Bracket Kits There are three carburetor heat box kits, STC'd and PMA'd to strengthen your carb heat box. These kits are designed to increase safety and reliability.  They will dampen vibration and strengthen your box in order to extend its service life. Your Cessna carburetor heat box is very expensive to repair or replace. New boxes range from $4,600 to $13,000.00 from Cessna depending on which model aircraft. This doesn't include the inconvenience or lost revenue due to down time. The good news is that these kits are inexpensive and easy to install.
Installation will take approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours depending on the aircraft model.  It would be best to have it installed at your next annual as the cowling will be off at that time already.

Induction Latch Kits Anyone who has removed and installed the engine bottom cowling on a Cessna 180/182 with an induction bellows can remember the difficulty locking the two quarter turn fasteners.  Sometimes it becomes necessary to bring both surfaces closer together in order to lock the fasteners.

Dynamic propeller has come up with a S.T.C'd and P.M.A.'d kit that allows you to draw both surfaces together with two latches, enabling you to lock the two quarter turn fasteners together successfully.  Included in the kit is a new neoprene seal to prevent unfiltered air from entering the engine.  Glue is included for the new seal.

Latch kit P/N182PJ provides added safety.
Approved for Cessna 180F through 180K and 182C through 182R.

This kit is not meant to take the place of the two quarter turn fasteners.

Carburetor Heat Cable Sleeve Mod Approved for C-152 series, 1978-1985; C-172 series, 1963-1986;
C-182 series 1962-1986.

 When  you need carburetor heat, it is essential that your cable is in it's best operating condition. We find one of the worst areas of failure is right before the cable exits your outer housing.  The problem is that the inside diameter of the housing is bigger than the outside diameter of the cable.  With the excess play, the cable vibrates and wears itself thin.  We have had pilots pull on carb heat and end up with the control in their lap.  So we came up with a small aluminum sleeve that has a Teflon bushing inside.  This keeps the cable centered and prevents it from vibrating against the housing.  Easily installed in just a half an hour, this sleeve is good preventative maintenance.   $36.66.
